Joseph L. Black IV, retired salesman

Joseph L. Black IV, 94, of Milton, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at Bayhealth Milford Memorial. Joseph was born to the late Amanda and Joseph L. Black III in Milton Jan. 21, 1923.

Joseph was a salesman with Gutwein Seeds, a member of Goshen United Methodist Church, a 69-year member of Endeavor Lodge #17 A.F. and A.M., having served as past master and was a 32nd Degree Mason, and a past president of the Milton Lions Club, with a membership of 50 years. Joseph enjoyed playing golf, shooting pool, and especially working on the farm for many years with his son.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty (Donovan) Black; his son, Joseph H. Black and his wife Cindy; sisters Mary Pritchett and Margaret Rodney; two stepgrandchildren, Scott Hamilton and wife Durbin, and Kristin Hamilton; and one stepgreat-grandson, Nathan Hamilton.

Funeral Services will be held in the sanctuary of Goshen United Methodist Church, 103 Mulberry St., Milton, Monday, July 31, at 1 p.m. Friends and family may call for a time of visitation in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, Sunday, July 30, from 6 until 8 p.m., which will include a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. Interment will be at Goshen M.E. Cemetery, Milton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be sent to Goshen United Methodist Church, at the address listed above.
