Joyce A. Morris, retired postmaster

Joyce A. Morris, 76, of Delmar, Md., formerly of Frankford, passed away Monday, March 13, 2017, at PRMC from complications due to an auto accident.

Mrs. Morris retired from the USPS as postmaster of the Hebron, Md. post office in 1995. She started her career with the post office as a part time clerk in Frankford, and worked her way to postmaster through the years. She also obtained her real estate license, and sold real estate for a short time. Mrs. Morris was a member of the Eastern Star and an active member of the Melson United Methodist Church. She was a believer in Christ and had accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior.

She was known as a true caregiver, always wanting to help and take care of others. She always wanted to be a behind the scenes type person, not wanting any recognition for helping out. She enjoyed her family and always loved being at family activities. She enjoyed traveling and being a true servant to others.

She is preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children Harry R. Brittingham; her father Woodrow W. Smallwood; her mother Goldie A. Smallwood; her brother W. Robert Smallwood; and her second husband R. William "Bill" Morris.

She is survived by a sister Vina L. Bailey (husband Charlie) of Salisbury, Md.; her three sons Harry N. Brittingham (wife Ojie) of Orange Park, Fla., Richie B. Brittingham (wife Bonnie) of Seaford, and Benjamin D. Brittingham (wife Fay) of Smithfield, Va. She is also survived by stepchildren Ralph W. Morris, Susan Pusey, Vicki Morris and Patricia Morris all of Salisbury. Mrs. Morris has many surviving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher St., Frankford, with a public viewing at 11 a.m. followed by the service at noon.
