July 19, 2016

Jefferson, Urian, Doane & Sterner P.A. staff participated in a volunteer event July 11 at Food Bank of Delaware Milford warehouse. The staff completed various tasks during their volunteer time. Lori Williams, a staff member of JUDS, organized the event. Jefferson, Urian, Doane and Sterner P.A. is an accounting firm with offices in Dover, Georgetown and Ocean View.

The Food Bank of Delaware provides nutritious food to Delawareans in need and facilitates long-term solutions to the problems of hunger and poverty through community education and advocacy. The Food Bank of Delaware has over 620 hunger-relief program partners to which it distributes food statewide. They provide numerous volunteer opportunities on an ongoing and as-needed basis for individuals and businesses.

A large number of volunteers are needed around the summer, when there is an influx of food to be sorted and packaged for distribution to summer hunger-relief programs for children, who are out of school and not receiving nutritious meals each day at school.

JUDS staff members and their families volunteered three hours at the Milford warehouse location. The staff packed hundreds of meal bags for summer programs, sorted through donated foods and cleaned food transportation coolers. This is JUDS’ second year volunteering at the Food Bank.

“The Food Bank of Delaware is such an important organization and has a great impact on the residents they serve. The work we accomplished will help many local children and their families” said Lori Williams who organized the volunteer event for JUDS.
