June W. Pettyjohn, owned Blue Gold Inn

Mrs. June W. Pettyjohn, 89, of Georgetown passed away Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, in the care of her family and Delaware Hospice.

Mrs. June was born in Georgetown Nov. 6, 1928, to the late George W. and Nettie E. Isaacs White. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Levin White in 1978; her husband Golda "Bugsy" Pettyjohn Jr. in 2000; and a son, Jeff Pettyjohn in 2001.

June owned and operated the Blue Gold Inn which was originally the Georgetown Bakery, worked for Diamond State Telephone Co. and was also a seamstress. She was an avid Bridge player and a long-time member of Sussex Pines Country Club. June and her husband Bugsy were married 47 years, and raised two children. She was a loving, smart, hardworking, strong-willed and independent woman who will be missed by many.

She is survived by a son, Dean Pettyjohn of Georgetown; daughter-in-law, Diana Pettyjohn of Georgetown; four grandchildren, Benjamin Pettyjohn, Brooks Pettyjohn, Kathy Pettyjohn and Karen Irvin (Nate); as well as two great-grandchildren, Dane and Emmitt Irvin.

A funeral service will be held at noon, Thursday, Jan. 25, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon for a viewing and visitation. Burial will follow in St. John's United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pastor Art Backus will officiate.

In lieu of flowers the family, suggests donations to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
