Keller Hopkins nominated for Sussex P&Z seat
Sussex County Councilman Sam Wilson, R-Georgetown, has nominated Bridgeville businessman Keller Hopkins to fill a vacant District 2 seat on the county's planning and zoning commission. The position has been vacant since Sept. 1 when 11-year commission veteran Mike Johnson retired. Hopkins is owner of Hopkins Construction, a family-run business specializing in infrastructure and heavy construction.
Under county code and rules of procedure, Hopkins will appear Tuesday, Nov. 1, before Sussex County Council for an interview prior to a vote, which could occur following the interview.
If confirmed, Hopkins will be the second commissioner appointed this year. Doug Hudson, a Dagsboro realtor, was appointed to replace commissioner Rodney Smith who stepped down earlier this year for health reasons after serving on the commission for 12 years.
