Kenneth L. Posey, supply technician

Kenneth L. Posey of Selbyville, formerly of New Carrollton, Md., passed away Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, at Medstar Washington Hospital Center from heart failure.

Ken was born in Glapthorn, Peterborough, England March 6, 1945.  He was the son of the late Leonard and Harriet (Leverett) Posey. Ken came to the United States as an infant and grew up in Nanjemoy and Indian Head, Md. He graduated from Henry E. Lackey High School in Indian Head. During the Vietnam War, Ken proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from August 15, 1963 to December 13 1966.  He married Mary Katherine Ghessie June 12, 1971. 
Following a period of working at several positions for the federal government in Washington, D.C., Ken joined the United States Park Police Property Office as a supply technician in 1971 and retired in 2003. He was a member of the American Legion, Greenbelt Post 136.

Ken is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Mary; brother-in-law August Ghessie and his wife Lisa of Okatie, S.C.; and nieces Amanda and Sarah Ghessie of Washington, D.C.

Ken and Mary retired to Selbyville in 2012. Ken loved to play golf and fish, and went on yearly golf and fishing outings with his retired U.S. Park Police and American Legion buddies.  He loved to go on cruises and play the slots with Mary.

In honor of Ken's wishes, a private service will be held at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services Tuesday, Feb. 21. A private interment will follow.
