Kids come out for Safe Kids Day

July 24, 2017

Trucks, cute animals and warm weather added up to a day of family fun at Safe Kids Day July 15 at the Lowe’s parking lot in Lewes.

The free event was intended to raise awareness of child safety through vendor booths from the likes of Beebe Healthcare, among many others, plus snacks and music. The big attraction for kids was the chance to sit in real fire trucks from the Rehoboth, Indian River and Lewes volunteer fire companies as well as an emergency response helicopter.

Another big attraction was animals from Barn Hill Preserve of Frankford. Kids got the chance to check out turtles, lizards, goats and Wesley, an 8-month old kangaroo joey. Among those getting a chance with Wesley were Georgie Perry and her son, Colton. RYAN MAVITY PHOTOS
