Labyrinth walk for coping with stress set Dec. 18

December 11, 2016

In spite of the traditional expectations of joy, closeness and celebration, the holiday season often brings unwanted guests: stress, sadness and loss. Once again this year, St. Peter's Episcopal Church and Delaware Hospice are joining together to offer an opportunity to find peace at a challenging time. A Gentle Path into the Holidays: Labyrinth Walk for Coping with Stress, Sadness and Loss will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 18, at the parish hall.

The public is invited to take a break and drop in to take a quiet walk on one of the two labyrinths at St. Peter's Square in Lewes. St. Peter's hand-painted canvas Chartres-design labyrinth will be laid out in the parish hall for walking indoors during this event. The grass and stone labyrinth outdoors is always open in the churchyard.

Two grief counselors who use the labyrinth in their work, Mary Van House and Midge DiNatale, will be on hand throughout the walk to answer questions about walking the labyrinth or coping with the holidays. Handouts and resources for coping will be available as well. Visitors are encouraged to allow at least 30 minutes for walking and contemplation. Journaling is highly recommended. Gentle music will accompany the walk.
