Laurel grad awarded for community service

June 21, 2018

The Kody O'Bear Community Youth Award was presented to Christian Jackson of Seaford. He is a 2018 graduate of Laurel High School.

Jackson has volunteered for many tasks at the Laurel library, was a part of the team to help rehab properties for Habitat for Humanity and was an integral part of a program to purchase and install fitness equipment at Fisher Park. After Jackson completes a mentor program required for his summer internship, he will design, plan, budget for and execute his own eight-week program at the Laurel library.

He will be attending Delaware Technical Community College to work toward a career in social work.

This award honors local students who give back to their communities, organizations or programs that support the mission of improving the lives of children or adults in their community. The Kody O’Bear Awards team suggests that  community members thank these young people and support their passion, talents and volunteerism.
