Leonard Lesniowski, Marine Corps veteran

Leonard Lesniowski, 71, of Millsboro, formerly of Tabernacle, N.J., passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Sunday, June 17, 2018, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md.

Lenny was born in Camden, N.J., October 26, 1946, son of the late Walter and Sophie (Topolski) Lesniowski. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps, and received his associate's degree from Temple University.

Lenny retired as a salesman in the refrigeration and air-conditioning industry. He was a member of American Legion Post 28 in Millsboro, and was also a former member of their executive board and financial committee. Lenny was a member of the Marine Corps League and enjoyed volunteering his time with Toys for Tots.

He loved golfing, skiing, fishing, gardening and dancing. He will be remembered as a loving brother, uncle, companion and friend.

He is survived by a sister, Connie Ziegler and her husband Tom of North Fort Myers, Fla.; a brother, Walter Lesniowski of Cherry Hill, N.J.; two nephews, Tom Ziegler Jr. and Erik Ziegler and his wife Melissa; two nieces, Susan Tarantino and her husband Rick, and Nadine DiCicco and her husband Larry; a cousin, Stephen Lesniowski and his wife Pat of Check, Va.; his loving companion of three years, Carol A. Goerner of Millsboro; and 10 great-nieces and -nephews; and several other cousins, friends and extended family members.

A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon, Thursday, June 21, at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, where a prayer service will begin at noon. Interment will be private.
