Let everyone enjoy the wildflowers

August 18, 2017

Last Sunday while driving into Lewes on New Road as I crossed Canary Creek I observed a woman digging up a small isolated clump of flowering wild hibiscus from the side of the road.

I'd observed this cheery clump of beautiful color at the edge of the marsh for several days.

Roadside wildflowers should be left for everyone's enjoyment. The transplant she took probably won't survive in her garden and it may be years before what she stole from all of us is replaced by nature.
