Bayhealth Medical Center in Milford, Sussex County, is now beginning construction on a new $350,000,000 state-of-the-art medical facility on 165 acres of land there just off Route One. This investment will soon be joined by a similar investment by Nemours Hospital for Children, a world-renowned institution for the youngest among us. These two accessible, modern facilities on the same campus will bring previously unavailable health care services to this area.
Bayhealth and Nemours are investing in our growth. Along with better care, these well-established institutions will bring good, well-paying, quality jobs with good benefits to this area. And beyond that, the construction and equipment for these projects will bring quality economic benefit as well.
For many years I have been on the board at Bayhealth, and now serve as its board chairperson. While I cannot, and do not, take sole credit for these wonderful additions to our county, I, along with many others, have been deeply engaged in this planning for our future.
Better healthcare is an example of the positive aspects of growth and the need for planning for a better Sussex County. I hope to bring this same experience and approach to the Sussex County Council.
