Lewes in Bloom plans events during Lewes Tulip Celebration

March 26, 2018

Lewes in Bloom volunteers planted nearly 20,000 tulip and daffodil bulbs last fall at the Kings Highway Gateway Garden and other gardens throughout Lewes. Daffodils are blooming now, and the tulips should bloom over the next few weeks, depending on the weather.

In addition to the plantings enjoyed by residents and visitors, Lewes in Bloom has events planned during the Lewes Tulip Celebration. Everyone is invited to participate.

A tulip celebration children’s story hour will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 5, in the children’s room at the library. Siobhan Duggan and LIB volunteers will present arts and crafts. Cookies and juice will be served.

Members Cindy DeEmedio and John Hanson will be trolley guides for the celebration this year.

Lewes In Bloom will also assist the city with the tulip dig to be announced later in April. To help keep an explosion of tulips blooming throughout Lewes for years, residents are invited to come to specific locations with a bag and a spade. They will be able to dig any number of the thousands of bulbs planted throughout Lewes last fall and take them home to to plant later in their home gardens.
