Lewes Creative Writers readings set Aug. 18

Writers’ conference set Aug. 19

The 10th Annual Lewes Creative Writers' Conference will be held from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 19, at Lewes Public Library. Workshops on a variety of writing-related topics will be held throughout the day. The conference is sponsored by the Lewes Public Library, the National League of American Pen Women - Diamond Branch, the Delaware Division of Libraries, the Delaware Division of the Arts and the Rehoboth Beach Writers' Guild. There are two morning sessions and one afternoon session. Workshops offered during the first morning session include Writing the Perfect Scene, Revisiting Some Late 20th Century Masterpieces and Short Fiction Roundtable (small-group session limited to 8). Workshops offered during the second morning session include Crafting a Life, The Essay: Muse, Mystic and Music, and Poetry Roundtable (small-group session limited to 8).

Events during the lunch break include book sales and signings, and lunchtime readings by Delaware Division of the Arts Fellowship recipients. The afternoon session will consist of four workshop choices. These include Let's Get Some Poems Started; Writing Locally, Thinking Globally; Memoir Roundtable (small-group session limited to 8); and Free Writing the Essay You Were Meant to Write (small-group session limited to 15).
