Lewes farmers market fall harvest celebration continues Oct. 21

October 18, 2017

The Historic Lewes Farmers Market will continue with the best of fall harvest from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 21, in the parking lot of Shields Elementary School off Savannah Road at Sussex Drive in Lewes. Convenient parking can be found at the adjacent Lewes School parking lot.

Over 24 vendors will be at the market through Saturday, Nov. 18, the weekend before Thanksgiving, offering all the bounties of fall harvest: carrots, fresh ginger, sweet potatoes, lettuces, broccoli, cauliflower, winter squashes including pumpkins, mushrooms, artisanal cheeses, apples, pears, cider, lamb, pork, oysters, freshly laid eggs, breads, jams and jellies, pastries, milk, yogurt and beautiful flowers for the table.

For the remainder of the 2017 season, there will be no Children's Reading Program, demonstrations or bagels.

The market offers the SNAP (EBT Food Stamps) program. To help lower economic barriers to local, healthy food, the HLFM matches up to $20 each participant each week with HLFM Bonus Bucks. SNAP participants are encouraged to come to the SNAP tent to pick up the bonus $20. In addition to SNAP, the Historic Lewes Farmers Market welcomes participants in Delaware's Women, Infants and Children program. Through Oct. 31. WIC coupons can be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at the market.
