Lewes made wise choice for city manager

March 23, 2017

The City of Lewes has made a brilliant choice in selecting Ann Marie Townshend as our next city manager.

Paul Eckrich has been a fine manager for us. He leaves large shoes to fill. Ann Marie Townshend will meet that challenge.

I had the honor to work with Ms. Townshend at the Office of State Planning Coordination earlier in our careers. I know her to be smart, dedicated, organized, and innovative. She is kind and perceptive, and will bring fine leadership skills to Lewes City Hall.

Ann Marie knows city management. She knows land-use planning. She knows state government, and she has been a leader in coordination among all levels of government in Delaware. She brings a great deal of respect with her from Dover.

As we move forward into the next chapter of the City of Lewes, we're going to need all of these qualities and knowledge in City Hall. I'm delighted to know that Ann Marie Townshend will be on the job.
