Lewes man pleads guilty to child solicitation

January 19, 2017

A Lewes man has pleaded guilty in Delaware Superior Court to one count of sexual solicitation of a child after he had arranged a meeting with whom he thought was a 14-year-old girl but turned out to be an undercover police officer.

Brian Myers, 33, had been texting and instant messaging with the officer for weeks, and had arranged to meet at Tidbury Park near Dover. Police say during their conversations, Myers made overtly sexual comments and sent inappropriate pictures. On May 23, court records show that Myers checked into a Dover hotel before going to the park where he was arrested.

Carl Kanefsky, spokesman for Delaware Department of Justice, said a pre-sentence investigation has been ordered but no sentencing date has been set. Kanefsky said Myers faces up to 15 years in prison. FILE PHOTO
