August 17, 2016

The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition will host a Nurture with Nature bike trail ride from Lewes to Rehoboth for breast cancer survivors from 9 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 30. DBCC's Nurture with Nature program is a series that allows breast cancer survivors to come together and experience nature by hiking, kayaking, biking, horseback riding or simply walking through natural surroundings. These outings occur approximately once a month throughout the state.

The Nurture with Nature trail ride will offer survivors the chance to bike from Seaside Nature Center in Lewes to Gordons Pond in Rehoboth Beach and back. The trail is approximately 3.2 miles each way. Most of the trail is packed crushed stone surface with several bridges, boardwalks and overlooks. Survivors will have beautiful views of the salt marsh, pond and ocean, along with vistas for nature enthusiasts and bird watchers.

For more information or to register by Friday, Aug. 26, contact Lois Wilkinson at 302-672-6435 or lwilkinson@debreastcancer.org. The session will be free for riders who bring their own bikes, or riders may rent a bike from the state park. Helmets will also be available. Participants should bring a brown bag lunch, insect repellent and a water bottle.

The program is open to all breast cancer survivors. The session will meet at 9 a.m. at the nature center at Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes. The address is 15099 Cape Henlopen Drive and the tour begins promptly at 9:15 a.m. Transportation can also be arranged from the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition office in Dover, but space is limited.
