Lewes-Rehoboth Rotary rings in the season with Salvation Army

November 29, 2016

Members of the Lewes-Rehoboth Rotary Club rang in the season by manning the Salvation Army red kettle in front of Peebles at the Rehoboth Mall Nov. 19. Each year the Salvation Army partners with local organizations like Rotary as well as individual volunteers to staff the kettles from Thanksgiving through the Christmas season.

All of the proceeds raised through red kettle donations stay in Sussex County for feeding, clothing and housing needy families as well as providing other emergency services.

The Rotary Club effort was organized by Jim Clark. His mother was a beneficiary of Salvation Army emergency relief when a tornado swept her family home away in 1925 when she was a child.
