Weekend viewing, funeral set for fallen Lewes firefighter

Fire company personnel from across the state escorted fallen firefighter Tim McClanahan back to Lewes July 13. Fire personnel mustered at Blue Rocks Stadium in Wilmington and began the trek toward Lewes about 9 a.m. 

McClanahan, 46, fell from a Delaware State Police helicopter at Delaware Coastal Airport in Georgetown July 11 during a training exercise. He died from injuries sustained in the accident.

• Public viewings will be held 6-9 p.m. Saturday, July 16, at Parsell Funeral Homes, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, and noon-3 p.m. Sunday, July 17, at Cape Henlopen High School. 

• Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 17, at Cape Henlopen High School Auditorium, 1250 Kings Hwy, Lewes. Final Fireman's Honors will be held immediately following Funeral Services.

Memorial contributions may be made in McClanahan's name to the Lewes Fire Department, P.O. Box 225, Lewes, DE 19958. Flowers or memorial gifts to the family can be sent through the Sympathy Store of Parsell Funeral Homes.
