Lewes woman training to repeat ride in Police Unity Tour

JuneRose Futcher seeks sponsors
February 8, 2017

In May, JuneRose Futcher will be riding again in the Police Unity Tour for fallen men and women of law enforcement. As the granddaughter of a fallen officer, she is a registered survivor. When Charles Futcher Sr. died in the line of duty in 1939, Futcher’s late father Charles and her aunt Helen were young people coping as survivors alongside their mother, the late Frances Graves Futcher.

Futcher is touched deeply by the overwhelming enthusiasm of law enforcement and broad community sponsorship. Fundraising is underway and money goes toward logistics and the national memorial. Approximately 3,000 cyclists from the U.S., Canada and many other nations ride in protected motorcades in the Unity Tour for up to 400 miles in five days.

Futcher is proud to be riding again this year after having ridden last year. She is also pleased the Police Unity Tour continues to ride to Lewes, stopping overnight in the Cape Region and departing Sussex County north and west to the Eastern Shore. Originating from northern New Jersey, tour cyclists ultimately pedal to the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington, D.C., Futcher rides in Chapter 10. Delaware State Police troopers ride in Chapter 2.
