Linwood E. Franklin Sr., avid hunter, fisherman

Linwood E. Franklin Sr., 77, of Dagsboro, passed away surrounded by his loving family Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017, at his home. He was born in Frankford, Dec. 10, 1939, son of the late Medford Franklin and Edna Mae (Cooper) Franklin.

Linwood worked for Timmons Oil Company in Millsboro, then Brohawn Construction Company in Cambridge, Md., before retiring from Coastal Supply Company in Dagsboro.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed birdwatching, sketching and painting with watercolor and acrylics. He was always available to lend a helping hand to those that needed help and would give you the shirt off his back.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Lee Franklin, and four brothers, Clyde, Rueben, Jewell and Jerry Franklin. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Faye (Toomey) Franklin; four children, Linwood E. Franklin Jr. and his wife Virginia of Millsboro, Billy L. Franklin and his wife Donna of Dagsboro, Bobby M. Franklin and his wife Jane of Millsboro, and Craig A. Franklin of Dagsboro. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Scott Franklin and his wife Desiree, Jon Franklin, Josh Franklin and Robin Franklin; two stepgrandchildren, Jon Bruch and Shanna Smith and her husband Duane; eight great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; a sister, Cynthia Wooten and her husband James of Millsboro; and a brother, Danny Franklin and his wife Janet of Pensacola, Fla.

A funeral service will be held at noon, Thursday, Aug. 24, at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 41 Thatcher St., Frankford, where friends may visit after 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Dagsboro Redmen’s Cemetery in Dagsboro.
