Listening to Rehoboth’s citizens important

July 29, 2016

I am glad I had the opportunity to speak with so many voters and listen to their concerns and views one week ago at the Candidates Forum organized by the Rehoboth Beach Homeowners' Association and hosted by CAMP Rehoboth.

As a commissioner, it is important to me that I hear as many viewpoints as possible before making decisions. Listening is an essential part of two-way communication between city officials and citizens.

Last Friday I had the opportunity to talk about how I will continue to advocate for even more input with public opinion research. I have proposed a citizens advisory group to discuss priorities and issues before they arise. I also made it clear that I have worked for a number of years to create and fund the position of communications specialist on the city staff, which is now a reality. My heartfelt thanks to everyone who organized, hosted and attended this valuable event.
