Local author Jill Hicks to appear at Browseabout Books May 28

May 25, 2017

Local author Jill Hicks will return to Browseabout Books in Rehoboth Beach from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Sunday, May 28, to sign copies of her local favorite, "Bay Avenue," and her latest release, "Adrift."

Hicks' writing style thoroughly engages her readers. Her skillful use of first-person narrative and dialogue reveals the true nature of the good, the well-meaning, and the illicit exchanges of people’s lives. Unexpected twists and turns mirror their own fragile complexities in the relationships they have built - and destroyed - along the way. As her stories unfold, readers become invested in the outcomes, and the page turning begins.

The "Bay Avenue" series is set in and around the town of Lewes. Hicks' unique style combined with the setting and suspense-filled story takes her readers on an unforgettable journey. Once absorbed in the plot, one expects to witness the storyline playing out in this very unique and romantic coastal venue. This series makes a great gift for anyone who enjoys the Delaware beaches.

Hicks' latest novel, "Adrift," follows the journey of a devoted wife, mother and second-grade teacher, who walks in on an encounter that upends her ordinary life. Over time - but not out of time - she distances herself from her family and everything that has given her a sense of purpose. With the hope of finding contentment and a place to contemplate her options, she escapes to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Shortly after her arrival, a minor accident transforms her and those around her.

Hicks' novels will keep readers spellbound and add another depth of dimension to any real or imagined vacation along the East Coast.
