Local girls compete at state Elks Hoop Shoot

Elks Hoop Shoot local winners MacKenzie Vitolo of Milton and Maile Godwin of Rehoboth won their age-group contests at the district level Jan. 27 in Seaford, and earned their way to the Elks Hoop Shoot state competition (Delaware, Maryland and Washington, D.C.) Feb. 11 at Washington College in historic Chestertown, Md. At the state competition, MacKenzie was awarded the runner-up trophy for girls 12-13, while Maile finished in fourth place for girls 8-9. Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge 2540 is planning next year’s Hoop Shoot for Jan. 13, 2019.
