Lois Radcliffe, a shining light

Lois Radcliffe, 80, of Dagsboro passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family Thursday, April 12, 2018. 

Lois had a passion for children, the elderly and the gift of gab. She would befriend and help anybody. She was especially proud of her career teaching homebound children through the Queen Anne's County public school system. Lois will forever be remembered for her loving compassion, her service to God and her infectious smile.

Lois is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Edmund "Ted" Radcliffe; her four children, Linda Maxwell (Bob), Bill Radcliffe (Sue), Thomas Radcliffe (Joanna) and Sharon Jones (Larry). She also has six grandchildren who adored her; Karlie, Alex, Edward, Jonathan, William and Laura. Additionally, she is survived by two sisters, Ruth Bradford (Bob) and Carol Kelley (Charles "Buck"); a sister-in-law, Bets Evans; a brother-in-law, Lex Radcliffe (Cheryl) as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Evelyn Gompf; a daughter-in-law, Rebecca Radcliffe and a grandson, Scott Maxwell.

Lois was a shining light of God's love and she will be missed by all who knew her.

A visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, April 15, at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 16, at St. Martha's Episcopal Church, 117 Maplewood St., Bethany Beach. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lois' name may be sent to the Lord Baltimore Lioness Club, PO Box 667, Ocean View, DE 19970, or St. Martha's Episcopal Church, PO Box 1478, Bethany Beach, DE 19930. Both organizations were very dear to her heart.
