A team from Long Neck Elementary participated in Girls on the Run for the first time this year. In all, 15 girls took part in the 10-week program that focuses on confidence, empowerment and positive friendship. Runners build endurance going from one lap during the first week to a practice 5K and an official 5K in the final week. The culminating Girls on the Run 5K was held Nov. 18 at Dover International Speedway.
