Lori R. (Watson) Gordy, loved sports, music

Lori R. (Watson) Gordy, 51, of Milford, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 16, 2017, in Bayhealth at Milford Memorial Hospital.

Lori graduated from Milford High School in 1984. She continued her education at Delaware Technical Community College where she graduated in 1987 with her nursing degree. Lori worked as a Registered Nurse with Milford Memorial Hospital for 19 years, and retired in 2006 due to health issues. While in high school and throughout college she worked at Mills Brothers in Milford.

In high school, Lori participated in marching band, where she played clarinet, and jazz band, where she played guitar. She also excelled in softball and played catcher. Lori played softball in high school, throughout college, in the Milford Senior League and travel teams. She loved playing and collecting guitars, and going to the beach where walking in the sand was very relaxing for her. Lori was also a huge fan of sports, the Philadelphia Eagles, and music, especially Stevie Nicks.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jay Watson; paternal grandparents, Estelle and Jay Watson Sr.; and maternal grandparents, Lillian and Joseph Carter.

She is survived by her two daughters, Taylor Gordy of Seaford and Kristen Gordy of Harrington; her mother, Nancy (Carter) Watson of Seaford; Lori's girlfriend, Dawn Fletcher of Magnolia; Lori's daughters’ father, Timothy Gordy and his wife Linda of Harrington; a "brother," James Carey; special aunts and uncles, Sharleen and Greg Bunting, Jay and Ann Carter, and Janet and Wayne Callaway; numerous cousins and extended family.

A Celebration of Lori's Life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 22, in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford, with visitation Friday, April 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery.
