Lunch is served at Cape High

Staff, students serve lunch over spring break
April 9, 2018

Cape Region educators, support staff, students and parents hosted a luncheon for homeless people April 4 at Cape Henlopen High School.

Love Creek Elementary paraprofessional Tammy Eitner got the idea after a similar program was held upstate. Sussex Consortium teacher Lacey Brown immediately jumped on board.

“Lacey and I are on the executive board for the Delaware State Education Association. We thought it would be a good idea to build a bridge between DSEA, the Cape Henlopen Education Association and the Cape Henlopen Support Staff Association and get them more involved in our community,” Eitner said.

Informational flyers were sent to area churches, shelters, and state and local agencies to promote the event. Donations poured in from area businesses and families, and district AVID and honor society students also got involved as a community service project.

“We hope to have a spring and winter luncheon next year,” Brown said.
