LYC sailors dominate Cape to Cape cruising class

Skipper Nick Carter and Delgato bring home first-place honors

Lewes Yacht Club retained the cruising trophy for another year in the ninth annual Cape to Cape Challenge, while Corinthian Yacht Club in Cape May, N.J., won the spinnaker class.

LYC sailors took four of the top five spots in the cruising class during three races held Aug. 4 and 5. Two races took place Aug. 4, and the race across Delaware Bay from Cape May, N.J., to Lewes occurred the following day.

In the race across the bay, Delgato was the first to cross the finish line.

The clubs alternate races each year. The 10th annual event will take place in Lewes.
