Residents of Sussex County District 3 are way too familiar with the effects of expansive growth and tourism. Along with positive economic influences, our county is dealing with critical transportation, traffic and environmental impact concerns. Individuals who reside and work in District 3 have a right to question the effectiveness of the Sussex County Council in upholding responsibilities as intended by our government structure.
Sussex County Council is responsible for:
- Establishing policies for the health, safety, and welfare of County residents;
- Adopting an annual budget for county government operations;
- Enacting plans for county growth, development, and employment.
How well is the council doing? The transportations, traffic and environmental consequences associated with growth, development and employment are complicated issues that require knowledge and experience to achieve the most favorable outcomes. In District 3, we are fortunate to have Kevin Burdette as our candidate for the upcoming election. Over the past 15 years I have known and worked with Kevin Burdette. I am a witness to his ability as a leader, as a community advocate, as an innovative educator, and as an expert in the environmental field. I am urging residents of all ages to take time to learn more about Kevin Burdette. Either through his webpage (www. BurdetteForSussex.com) or by contacting him directly (302-745-8800). Kevin wants to be your representative, your voice for our community, and will take time to meet with you to listen to your concerns and suggestions.
In today’s political climate, confidence is low in regard to our future government leaders. You and I have the power to vote wisely for a candidate who will work for the best interest of our communities. That is why I feel so strongly to communicate with my fellow District 3 residents to vote Sept. 13. Investigate the background of the candidates in order to select the best person based upon experience, community leadership and integrity. Our future generations will be directly affected by your choice on Election Day.
