The second annual Diamond State Surf Classic was back at the north beach of the Indian River Inlet Oct. 15.

The conditions were nearly perfect for an early-October day. Chuck Labin, event organizer, said there was a 2- to 4-foot east with a gentle offshore breeze and abundant sunshine.

“We are humbled to be connected with so many individuals, groups, and businesses, that share the same vision as us: being able to enjoy the beach and surf together,” said Labin.

There were a total of 54 competitors – 38 in the masters division, 16 in the junior division.

Chris Makibbin and Jim Royer won the team masters division. Merritt Burke won the Dogfish Head Tube of the Day. Tom Brecht won the Quiet Storm Air of the Day. Jason Davis won the Pete’s Steak Shop Wave of the Day. Burr Monroe won the Surf Bagel Cutback of the Day.

The junior team division winners were Kai Allread and Sam Schoenfeld. Allread also won the Dewey Beach Surf and Sport Best Floater. Schoenfeld also won the Arena’s Sign Wave of the Day. CJ Fritchman won the Rent E-quip Cutback of the Day.
