A 66-year-old man has surrendered to police after a 12-hour standoff Oct. 4 at a Lincoln home.

The man was taken into custody as he exited a residence in the 18000 block of Johnson Road where he had refused to leave since 1:03 a.m., said Master Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.

Delaware State Police, the Special Operations Response Team and conflict management teams were called to the home after a report of an unstable man who was possibly armed, Fournier said.

Homes in the area were evacuated and Morris Early Childhood Center on 3rd Street in Lincoln was closed Oct. 4 because of the stand-off, according to the Milford School District website.

Lincoln roadways opened for traffic at about 3:30 p.m.

More information will be released when available.
