Man sought in Red Mill Inn robbery

April 12, 2018

Delaware State Police are searching for a man who they say assaulted a man at Red Mill Inn April 7 and fled with cash.

An employee was in the rear storage area of the Coastal Highway motel at about 10:30 p.m. when he was confronted by the suspect, said Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe of the Delaware State Police.

The two struggled and the victim was struck with a blunt object before the suspect held him at gunpoint, demanding money from the cash register, Jaffe said. The victim handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and the suspect fled. The victim had minor injuries and refused medical treatment, Jaffe said.

The suspect is described as black, about 5-feet-9-inches tall, weighing 160-180 pounds and wearing all dark-colored clothing.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to contact the Troop 4 Major Crimes Unit, Detective R. Truitt at 302-752-3813. Information may also be provided by calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or at http://www.delaware.crimestoppersweb.com.
