Many Republicans in same boat as Clinton

July 25, 2016

I just finished reading the article by Reid Beveridge on the editorial page. I questioned where much of his information came from, then I saw in his bio that he covered news in Texas, Iowa and Wisconsin.

We Democrats are not upset with Director Comey for the results of his investigation. What we do question is why the investigation did not also look into the years that Secretaries of State Colin Powell and Condi Rice held those positions. Secretary Powell volunteered the information that he, too, had a private server handling classified information as did Secretary Rice. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates also volunteered that he had a private server handling his classified information as well. Just last week, it was indicated that Congressman Trey Gowdy also has a private server handling his classified information, as he sat there cross-examining Mrs Clinton. Where is the Republican outrage over these findings or why is Mrs Clinton the only one being prosecuted?

He also mentions that General Petraeus handled classified information on a lesser level than Mrs Clinton and has been charged, tried and convicted of giving his mistress that information. How does Mr. Beveridge know that what was handed over to Mrs. Broadwell was of a lesser classification? What matters is that Mrs. Broadwell was the general's lover and did not have a need to know, regardless of whether or not she held a security clearance.

Need to know is always at play when handling classified documents. What the general and Mrs. Broadwell did was enough to get them both booted from the military, just for having their affair while being married to others.
What the general did was hand over classified information to someone who was writing a book for publication. What was Mrs. Broadwell’s need to know?

Republicans always seem to be able to justify their biases while holding Democrats accountable.  Facts are facts, and to hold one party liable while giving a free pass to others is totally unacceptable.

If you are going to make an issue over Mrs Clinton, then be honest and hold them all liable.  They all did the same thing
