March of Dimes holds March for Babies walk

May 24, 2017

The March of Dimes held its annual March for Babies May 6 in Rehoboth Beach. The annual event raises funds for the March of Dimes Delaware Chapter market.

March of Dimes Delaware Chapter holds a walk in each Delaware county every year. After decades of increases, the rate of premature birth in the United States has now been on a steady decline for the last several years. This decline - to 9.6 percent today - has saved thousands of babies from being born too soon. It also has saved the nation billions of dollars in excess healthcare costs.

Despite this progress, about 380,000 babies are born prematurely each year.
