Margaret ‘Peggy’ Winstead, devoted to family

May 10, 2018

Margaret (Peggy) Elliott Winstead, 86, died Saturday, May 5, 2018, with her loving and devoted husband of 67 years, Frank, at her side. Born in Wilmington Dec. 22, 1931, to Earl and Rosadel Elliott, she attended St. Paul's School and Wilmington High School. Peggy worked at The News Journal, Morris Jewelers, and managed Linden Green Apartments in Pike Creek.

She was a devoted wife and mother. She provided love and care not only for her own children, but also for children who were in the state's foster care system. She volunteered her time at New Life Thrift Store. Peggy had a wonderful sense of humor and a fabulous smile.

She was predeceased by her parents and her brothers Bob and Donny. In addition to her dedicated husband, she is survived by their three amazing sons and their spouses: Dennis (Scott Egler) of San Francisco, Calif., Timothy (Emily Cunningham) of Rehoboth Beach and Mark (Jean) of Lewes; and her sister, Grace. Peggy became Nana at age 80, and had two granddaughters who absolutely adored her - Olivia and Eliza. They will all miss her tremendously but are grateful she is at peace.

A Celebration of Peggy's Life will be held Friday, May 18 at 5 p.m., at Parsell Funeral Home, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where the family will welcome visitors from 4 to 5 p.m.
