Mariner wrestling defeats Millsboro 57-33

Young team gets big win
December 9, 2017

The Mariner Middle School wrestling squad opened its 2017-18 season on the right foot with a 57-33 win over visiting Millsboro, and head coach Gerald Windish couldn’t be happier.

“In the three years that I’ve been here as an assistant coach, we haven’t beaten Millsboro,” said Windish. “This year, we’re a young team and they are a young team. Both teams graduated a bunch of really good eighth-grade kids. We’ve got a lot of good kids on this team. It’s been a pleasure coaching them, and it’s a good start to the season.”

Mariner got pins by Joe Nsiah, George Delgaudio, Jermaine Hinton, Daniel Saez, Cole Windish, Taylor Kollock and Malaki Lewis. Kanye Christopher won a decision.

The Vikings will travel to Laurel Monday, Dec. 11, to face the Bulldogs.
