Marion E. Van Hart Jarrell, retired teacher

Marion E. Van Hart Jarrell, 80, died peacefully at home Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, after a long illness. 

Born April 16, 1937, in Camden, N.J., to David S. Van Hart and Margaret H. Van Hart, Mrs. Jarrell grew up in Newark, and was a 1955 graduate of PS DuPont High School. After graduating with an education degree from the University of Delaware, she taught at Mary C I Williams Elementary School in Wilmington.

In 1966, she married William B. Jarrell. They were married 34 years and had three children. After the family relocated to Harrington, Mrs. Jarrell taught at Avenue Preschool in Milford for almost 20 years. During her retirement, she remained active in Avenue Church women's circles, volunteered in the church office, and tutored in her spare time. She also enjoyed scrapbooking, needlework and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Jarrell is survived by her three children: Margaret Jarrell of Philadelphia, Pa., David Jarrell and wife Barbara of Lewes, and Elizabeth Brown and husband Dave of Newark; and two grandchildren, William and Michael Jarrell of Lewes. She was predeceased by her husband William Dec. 17, 2000.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 6, at Parsell Funeral Home & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where visitors may call on the family starting at 10 a.m. Burial will be private.
