Mary Alice Bradberry Lester, Verizon retiree

Mrs. Mary Alice Bradberry Lester, "Alice," 90, of Millsboro, formerly of Frederick, Md., passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at Harrison Senior Living in Georgetown.

Alice was born in Hinton, W.Va., to the late Clyde and Mary Alice Crotty Bradberry Nov. 2, 1927. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband James Lester in 1986; siblings Virginia Handley, Josephine Palmer, Virgil Bradberry, Arlene Hale, Haddie Meador, Helen Summers and John Bradberry; a granddaughter Jennifer Ann Bartlett; and a great-granddaughter Jilian Kate Bartlett.

She retired from Verizon where she worked as a group chief operator. She was a member of Flint Hill United Methodist Church in Adamstown, Md., where she taught Sunday school and Bible study. She also enjoyed songwriting. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.

She is survived by four children: Mary Ann Adams of Frederick, Richard Lester of LeRoy, N.Y., Joyce Ball (Charles) of Millsboro, and Lisa Himes (Richard) of Front Royal, Va. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 24, at Flint United Methodist Church, 2732 Park Mills Road, Adamstown, where friends may call from noon to 1 p.m., for viewing and visitation. Burial will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. Pastor Bob Ruggieri will officiate.
