Memoirs class to begin in Rehoboth March 22

March 11, 2018

The popular memoirs class hosted by the Rehoboth Beach Museum is returning. While the museum is currently closed, Browseabout Books has graciously offered to provide space so the museum can continue to present the memoir classes this spring. Nancy Alexander, museum director, said how gratified she was that the community businesses are reaching out to help the museum continue its programming while the building is undergoing major renovation..

Of all the forms of nonfiction, memoir writing is the most personal, and it has become one of the most popular forms of written expression. Without question, writing memoirs can provide an opportunity to create a personal legacy for friends and family alike. However, getting started can be a challenge. To guide that journey, these workshops will help participants develop, master and practice the basics of writing a good, readable memoir. No prior creative writing experience is necessary.

The workshop will be taught by Rae Tyson, a local journalist who teaches memoir writing courses at the University of Delaware's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute in Lewes. The beginner sessions will meet at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 22, 29 and April 5.  A class for intermediate memoir writing will take place at 10 a.m., April 12, 19 and 26.  A $20 fee for members and $25 fee for nonmembers for each three-part workshop series will be used to support museum programs.

Registration is required and space is limited. To reserve a spot, call 302-227-7310 and leave a voicemail message with name and telephone number. Phone messages will be returned. Do not call Browseabout Books. Reservations are taken through the museum only.

Browseabout Books is at 133 Rehoboth Ave., Rehoboth Beach.
