Michael G. Brockson, had passion for studies

Michael G. Brockson, 52, a lifelong Delawarean who had a passion for studying philosophy, mathematics, science and history, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2017, at his home in Frankford.

Born in King of Prussia, Pa., Mr. Brockson was raised in Wilmington, but moved to Bethany Beach, where he found peace at the beach. He is a graduate of Concord High School where he won multiple math league awards and the Delaware State Science Olympiad Award. Mr. Brockson had a talent for sports, and at various points immersed himself and excelled in swimming. Running a close second to his zeal for learning was his sense of humor. He worked for the family business, Econowash Laundry and Dry Cleaning, for many years.

He is survived by his mother, Mary, and father, Ed; two sisters, Donna (Mark) Smith and Virginia (Richard) Giebel; three uncles, Bob Clarke, Gus Gordon and TJ Westwood; two aunts, Cass Clarke and Chris Brockson; two nieces, Karlie Smith and Gigi Giebel; a nephew, Mark Dylan Smith, and a host of cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon, Wednesday, Aug. 23, at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View, where friends and family may visit after 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Dagsboro.
