Michael G. Pratt, Party Decor owner

Michael G. Pratt, 60, of Baltimore, Md., and Millsboro, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes.

Mike was born in Staten Island, N.Y., April 28, 1957, son of Clarence "Clay" Pratt and the late Norma A. (Barry) Pratt. He graduated from Countess Moore Catholic High School in Staten Island in 1975 and attended Staten Island Community College.

He started his career at Staten Island Hospital at a very young age; then he and Jim moved to Baltimore, where Mike started working for MedStar Health at White Square, and retired due to his health while working at Mercy Hospital. With Mike and Jim's love for the beach, they set out for a new adventure which led them to Delaware where they were the proud owners of Party Décor and More in Rehoboth Beach.

Mike was a longtime member of the Metropolitan Community Church in Baltimore, and was a current member and heavily involved with the Metropolitan Community Church of Rehoboth Beach, where he served in several capacities.

Mike was known for his love of chocolate, good conversation and laughter.

In addition to his mother, Norma Pratt, he was preceded in death by a cousin, Merrie Urgo; and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Schnepf Jr.

He is survived by his loving husband, James E. Schnepf-Pratt, they have been together for 38 years; his father, Clarence "Clay" Pratt of Red Bank, N.J.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna Schnepf, Charles (Donna) Schnepf, Dawn (Jerry) Hauf and Patricia (Billy) Cook; cousins, Drew (Margo) Barry, Tommy Barry Jr. and Joe Urgo; a great-aunt, Theresa Letteriel; a good friend, Jim "Little Jim" Brydges; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 9, at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro. A visitation will also be held from 11 a.m. to noon, Thursday, Aug. 10, at the Metropolitan Community Church of Rehoboth Beach, 19369 Plantation Road, Rehoboth Beach, where the funeral service will begin at 12:30 p.m. Entombment will be held at Holly Hill Memorial Gardens in Baltimore.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Mike's name to the Metropolitan Community Church of Rehoboth Beach DE, PO Box 191, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
