Milford Drama Club to present ‘School of Rock: The Musical’ March 1-3

February 23, 2018

The School of Rock can't be stopped, and now is the time to rock out with Milford High School and Milford Central Academy students in “School of Rock: The Musical.” Performances will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday to Saturday, March 1 to 3. A matinee performance will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday.

This hilarious musical follows Dewey, a failed rock musician posing as a substitute teacher, as he tries to turn a group of straight-A students into a rock band capable of winning the Battle of the Bands. The musical is based on the hit movie starring Jack Black, and it has additional songs by Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Director Carissa Meiklejohn said, "This show is so much fun! I can't sit still in my seat." Audience members of all ages are sure to feel the same way.

This production has provided a unique opportunity for Milford students to show off their wide range of skills: in addition to acting, singing, and dancing, five talented students play instruments live on stage. The instrumental musicians are Destiny Carmona, Sebastian Cortez, Melina Hudson, Owen McDonald and Dylan Phillips.

Other student performers from Milford High School include Jocelyn Argo, Briana Bailey, Alina Bashkirova, Tobias Biro, Brooke Bunting, Amire Collins, Millisen Dill, Lauren Edwards, Jacob Elliot, Jesus Gomez, Abby Lincoln, Christian Keesler-Evans, Mya McFarland, Kylie Morrill, Hadley O'Day, Mystery Parsons-Villa, Ash Pierce, Lizzy Pierce, Layna Reynolds, Sam Sileno, Tristan Slonacher, Madison Stalvey, Ireland Stump, Teana Sturgis, Sienna Tamburo, Haley Thompson, Jace Thompson, Paige Thompson, Isabella Tyrell, Gabe White, Julie White, Rebecca Wisniewski and Natalie Zelano.

Tickets will be available at the door. Admission is $5 for students age 18 or younger, $6 for seniors 60 or older, and $8 for all others. A $1 discount will be given to those who bring a ticket stub from the Lions Club spaghetti dinner set for 4 to 7 p.m., Saturday, March 3, in the Milford High School cafeteria.
