Milford International Food Festival set Oct. 9

September 30, 2016

The Riverwalk Park on Walnut Street in downtown Milford will again take on an international flavor at Downtown Milford Inc.'s Second Annual Milford International Food Festival set for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 9.

Some 15 vendors will sell plates, sandwiches, sides and samples featuring flavors from around the world and reflecting the community diversity that makes Milford a great place to live, work, shop and play. The cuisines vary from local Delaware tastings to good old American barbecue to authentic ethnic dishes representing such international locales as Mexico, France, Italy, Central America and Greece.

Food vendors at the event include Abbott's Grill & Bald Jason's Pub, Carl Haber's Gourmet Hot Dogs, The Cheese Board, the Culinary School at the Food Bank of Delaware Milford branch, Dolcé Bakery & Coffee Shop, Espiro's, Fortuna's Bakery, Lupe's Tacos, Petite Sweets, Touch of Italy, Twisted Fruit, Uncle John's Smokehouse, USS Delaware Restaurant, Veg Dover, and Westside Restaurant.

Lang Redden, chair of the Milford International Food Festival, says, "Food is something that everyone shares, and it can help connect cultures. Our inaugural Milford International Food Festival was so much fun for everyone and gave more than 700 people an opportunity to experience foods and cultures they may not have known were available right here in and around Milford.

"Being among friends, those we know and even those we've not yet met to share the experience of food from around the world helps us to share more than a meal, but to also share our experiences and even our lives with each other. Food is the great connector that can bring people together regardless of background, nation of origin or ethnicity. That's the aim of the Milford International Food Festival - and to enjoy some really great food! All of us involved are so excited to bring it back again this fall," says Redden.

Besides all of the delectable eats at the food festival, there will also be plenty of entertainment during the day.

Dana Wattay will DJ and provide music throughout the festivities. Young, talented dancers from Tatiana Akinfieva Dance Academy and the First State Dance Academy will perform. For the younger connoisseurs, the Music School of Delaware will offer face painting, and volunteer artists from the Mispillion Art League will offer pavement chalk painting.

Admission to this rain-or-shine, fun, family-friendly food festival is free. Cash only will be accepted for food and beverage purchases.
