Milton’s dream for trip to World Series comes to end

All-Stars start strong but fall 5-2 to Maryland in regional

The Major League Milton boys from the 684 took the lead from Maryland-Thurmont in the top of the 5th inning 2-1 last Thursday night, Aug. 10. The game was broadcast on ESPN and everyone downstate was locked in. The winner would advance to play Pennsylvania, with New Jersey waiting for a Saturday championship game, while the loser would be eliminated.

Maryland got a pair of home runs in the bottom of the fifth by Logan Semanski and Will Gisriel, erupting for 4 runs and sending Milton down to defeat 5-2.

The Milton team reached the Mid-Atlantic Regionals for the second year in a row.

Maryland went on to crush Pennsylvania Friday night 14-4 before falling to New Jersey 8-3 in the Saturday championship game.

The Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa., featuring eight international teams and eight U.S. regional champions, runs Aug. 17-27 with all games on ESPN.
