Milton 9-10 All-Stars win states; head to regionals

Eastern Regional begins Aug. 5 in Cranston, R.I.

The Milton 9-10 All-Stars are headed to Rhode Island to compete in the Eastern Regional tournament following their 3-1 win over Canal July 25 in Millsboro. The regional tournament will run from Friday, Aug. 5 to Saturday, Aug. 13 in Cranston, R.I.

Jayceon White went six innings with five strikeouts while giving up just six hits. Bryce Dominick had a hit and RBI, knocking in Gage Joseph in the fourth inning. After Tyler Jacona walked in sixth, Connor Coulbourne sacrificed Jacona to second. Then Gage Joseph hit one of his two doubles to drive in the go-ahead run. Joseph advanced to third on passed ball then scored on passed ball.

This was the third time the two teams played in the state tournament. Milton defeated Canal 9-6 July 22 to send the Bear team to the lower bracket. After winning out, the two teams met a second time in the championship round. Canal evened the score July 24 with a decisive 11-1 win, setting up the winner-take-all game July 25.
