This year the Milton Garden Club is switching up its annual garden tour with a fall version of the popular event.

Normally featured in early summer, the annual Garden Tour highlights local gardens and supports the work of the volunteer-driven organization that beautifies downtown Milton year-round.

The 17th annual garden tour marks the first time the event has been held in the fall, said event Chair Kathryn Greig.

“We've had a lot of weather challenges in the past, and there are so many different tours and events in the early summer,” Greig said. “A number of people have asked why we don't have it in the fall. So we decided we'd give it a try.”

The tour, which features five homes on Federal Street, Sand Hill Road and in Heritage Creek, will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 1. If a hurricane or major storm hits, the tour will be rescheduled to Sunday, Oct. 8. Greig said a normal rain event will not postpone the tour.

Greig said the tour showcases beautiful, local gardens, offers gardeners helpful tips and tricks, and supports the club.

Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased in advance at Salon Milton, Hillside Florist, Pepper's Greenhouses or the Milton Historical Society. On the day of the event, tickets and brochures will be available at 508 Federal St.
