Milton Major All-Stars defeat Woodbridge and Nanticoke in District 3

Lewes/Rehoboth battles in lower bracket with wins over Woodbridge and Millsboro

The Milton Major League All-Stars have been on a home run binge this week, hitting three in the 41-0 win against Woodbridge July 15 and two in the 11-9 win over Nanticoke in 10 innings July 16.

The squad is back in action Monday, July 18, when they will face off against Laurel at Lewes Little League at 7 p.m.

Chase Boyle started off the fireworks with a three-run blast that hit the fence of the tennis courts from Lewes’ Hucky Hudson Field. Ty Husbands followed with a homer and then a grand slam in the third. Andrew Criswell went 3-for-3 with two doubles and six RBIs.

Milton had 24 hits against Woodbridge, while they were given 22 free passes by the Woodbridge pitchers.

Milton had a little tougher game against Nanticoke, as the Seaford-based team took them to 10 innings. Chase Boyle picked up three hits with a three-run homer and five RBIs. Ty Husbands had three hits with a home run in the eighth inning to tie the game.

Malikeye Wells picked up two hits with an RBI, while Brian Sponaugle had two hits, including the winning hit in the top of the 10th.

Hunter Rauch picked up the win, pitching 2 2/3 innings with help from Timmy Hitchcock getting the last three outs for the save.

Lewes/Rehoboth lost 14-4 to Nanticoke in a July 15 game then defeated Woodbridge 18-0 July 16 and Millsboro 12-8 July 17.

Lewes/Rehoboth will try to keep the streak alive when they face Nanticoke at Lower Sussex Little League Monday, July 18, at 7 p.m.

In the Millsboro contest, Mikey Jarrell went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and pitched 2 2/3 hitless innings with five strikeouts. Josh Reinhold went 1-for-3 scoring two runs and slammed a two-out game-tying triple in the sixth inning. He also pitched three innings with four strikeouts.

Vinny DiIrio went 2-for-2 from the plate and scored two runs, while Konner Knarr went 2-for-2 with two RBIs.

Ethan Hazzard pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief to get the win.
