Milton packed for annual Horseshoe Crab & Shorebird Festival

May 27, 2017

Hundreds of people filled downtown Milton for the annual Horseshoe Crab and Shorebird Festival at Milton Memorial Park and Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge.

In Milton, people enjoyed local food and craft vendors, while families got a closer look at some of the First State’s native species. The festival celebrates the annual spawning migration of horseshoe crabs, whose eggs attract a variety of shorebird species, including the red knot.

The event also included guided canoe and kayak trips on the Broadkill, bird watching, nature walks and a slew of crafting activities.
